Hi, I’m Matija Martinic — starting strong with a dad pun, as promised (see title). I’m a husband and a proud father of two, and I’ve been programming since I was 11 (yes, I peaked early and I’m still riding that high). I’ve been in the industry for more than 2 decades and still enjoying every single minute, especially those nearing the 5pm mark. Those minutes are the best.
I grew up competing in all kinds of programming contests through childhood, primary school, high school and college, which is probably why my brain is now permanently wired to hunt for the most elegant, ridiculously simple solution to a problem that has no business being that complex.
I genuinely enjoy big, gnarly, large-scale projects, the kind where “quick fix” is a myth and “clean design” is a love language.
I also come with a very specific sense of humor—consider yourself warned. And if you’re wondering how much I love Go and Vim: let’s just say my son’s name is basically a mashup tribute (poor little IfErrNotNilusCantQuitVimus Martinic). Don’t worry, I didn’t want to also permanently scar my daughter by giving her a second programming reference… I’m a responsible adult like that.
